Logan Site Development Plans 2024
Logan City Council
Purpose
Logan City Council engaged CPR Group to develop Site Development Plans (SDPs) for key sports and recreation sites, including Lowe Oval, Bill Norris Oval, Waller Park, Merv and Ollie Musch Reserve, Skerman Park, Logan Metro Sports Park and Ewing Park. These plans were designed to guide future development, ensuring that each site met the community’s current and projected needs. The overarching goal was to enhance the functionality and utilisation of the sites while creating sustainable, high-quality spaces that promoted active, healthy lifestyles.
Approach
CPR Group’s approach to project management ensured that Council was well-informed and regularly updated throughout the process. The team drove the project forward, ensuring timely completion while collaborating with Council at important stages for approvals. This streamlined and coordinated approach gave Council confidence in the final result. The process involved:
Comprehensive investigations to assess infrastructure, constraints and opportunities for improvement at each site
Stakeholder engagement, utilising the IAP2 principles to gather input from Council staff, sporting bodies, lessees and the community, ensuring the plans reflected the needs of users
A site development plan with 3D visualisations, to support project promotion and highly competitive funding applications
Creating a prioritised, staged, costed implementation plan, supporting a strategic, budgeted, long-term approach
Engaging with specialists in urban planning, geotechnics and 3D visualisation to enhance the technical and design aspects of the plans
Outcomes
The SDPs provide Logan City Council with clear, prioritised roadmaps for the sustainable development of their sports and recreation sites. CPR Group’s collaborative and methodical approach ensured that the plans address key infrastructure needs and support future growth. By working closely with Council at key stages, the plans were delivered seamlessly, with confidence in the final outcome. The plans offer practical, phased guidance for immediate and long-term infrastructure improvements, ensuring these sites will continue to meet the needs of the Logan community for years to come.
