Club IQ Sport and Recreation Club Support
Queensland Government | Department of Tourism and Sport
Purpose
Club IQ was developed to strengthen Queensland’s sport and recreation sector by providing resources and tools to club volunteers. The project aimed to equip volunteers with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to build strong, sustainable clubs that would thrive well beyond their tenure. CPR Group led the initiative to support the long-term success of over 10,000 clubs across Queensland.
Approach
CPR Group employed a comprehensive methodology to deliver high-quality training and resources. The approach involved:
Developing practical resources, including fact sheets, checklists and guides, covering important topics such as governance, financial management and volunteer recruitment. These resources were designed to support volunteers in running their clubs effectively and sustainably.
Conducting workshops and webinars specifically for Department of Tourism and Sport (DTS) officers, providing them with the knowledge and understanding necessary to further support and guide the volunteers who manage clubs across Queensland
Collaborating closely with DTS officers to create a centralised resource hub, allowing them to offer consistent and reliable support to clubs in their regions
This approach ensured that both club volunteers were directly equipped with the tools they needed and that DTS officers had the information and training required to assist these clubs in building resilient and well-governed organisations.
Outcomes
Club IQ successfully delivered a suite of resources and training programs that empowered club volunteers to manage governance, financial responsibilities and participation growth confidently. By equipping DTS officers with the skills to support these volunteers, Club IQ ensures that Queensland’s clubs are well-positioned for long-term success. The initiative lays the groundwork for stronger, more sustainable clubs.
