CPR Group is proud to celebrate our involvement in the Mossman Showgrounds Master Plan for Douglas Shire Council that is now taking steps forward with a $1.7 million commitment to the upgrades of the Victor Crees pavilion.
Being master plan designers, we believe that meaningful engagement with people results in plans being executed and better facilities becoming a reality for deserving clubs.
Having consulted the user groups at Mossman Showgrounds, also known as Coronation Park, the long-term master plan was developed with a prioritised implementation plan and outlined scope of work for the site. This has now led to the outcome of the development of a new Victor Crees Pavilion, including the installation of air conditioning, a new office, first aid area, veranda, change rooms, canteen and internal tiered seating that will double as storage. The funding will also support new lights and amenities at Coronation Park.
At the same time that we prepared the Coronation Park Master Plan, we also completed the Port Douglas Sports Complex Master Plan. The implementation of this plan will now see the development of a new entrance way and ticket box at Port Douglas, as well as upgrades to the rugby club, with a shade structure and tiered seating. These upgrades will positively impact the hard working and deserving volunteers and workers who support the development and progress of their sport for all children in the Douglas Shire.
The funding will provide better facilities for the community so that the region will be able to host events, such as state and national competitions. The redevelopment of the sites is planned to be completed ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, contributing to the growth of Douglas Shire and surrounding areas by hosting international athletes and spectators.
“CPR Group have been outstanding in delivering the sports masterplan to the Douglas Shire Council. They have not only been able to deliver an exceptional masterplan for the Port Douglas Sports Complex but have been able to deal with conflicting requests from stakeholders. The passion that they have for delivering something that is ‘right for the community’ is evident and have shown constant professionalism throughout.”
- Sport and Recreation Development Officer, Douglas Shire Council
It’s rewarding to see a master plan come alive, and even more so, to see the clubs empowered by the master plan to improve their facilities, and working together to progress both sites for the community.
