Funding Success for Longreach Regional Council Childcare Centre
CPR Group is proud to announce the success of their design and associated grant funding application made on behalf of Longreach Regional Council. The Longreach Childcare Centre, operated by Longreach Regional Council, will be provided $150,000 from the Australian Government to help fund an expansion of the childcare centre that will double the capacity of the facility.
CPR Group has been working with Longreach Regional Council over the past 10 months to assist with the identification, prioritisation, designing and grant funding applications for their capital works projects.
The success of this project will have notable positive impacts in the community, where the lack of childcare spaces is limiting the ability of parents re-entering the workforce. Central West Hospital and Health Service advised that a record number of births are due to take place at the Longreach Hospital in the next 12 months, increasing demand even further in 2022.
CPR Group worked closely with the staff and directors of the Longreach Childcare Centre to understand the space and day to day functioning of the centre. As a result of this cohesive teamwork, CPR Group resolved the new floor plans to maximise the capacity within the existing centre footprint, without the need to construct any new buildings. This cost effective solution made the proposal a viable option for funding and construction. The new design creates up to 108 extra childcare places and supports the employment of up to five additional roles once completed.
As reported on the Longreach Regional Council website news article:
"Mayor Tony Rayner says Council is committed to supporting the service in the absence of a viable private sector alternative. “It’s so important that we continue to support the centre, and keep up with demand” he told reporters. “The centre supports vital workforce participation outcomes in our communities. “I’d even go so far as to say it’s one of the most important things our Council does to support the local economy.”
Work on the Longreach Childcare Centre Expansion is expected to commence in December this year.
