The Metropolitan Districts Netball Association (MDNA) has been a valued client of CPR Group since 2013, and continues to engage CPR Group consultants on projects into 2023. A recent project completed for MDNA involved the creation of their 2022-2024 Strategic Plan, replacing the previous strategic plan that was also developed by CPR Group.
Strategic plans should be reviewed and updated every 3-4 years as the club, organisation or association changes. With this in mind, and the addition of new board members on the committee, MDNA decided it was the right time to rethink their strategic plans for the future.
The new strategic plan was developed from scratch with a new vision in mind for the future of MDNA. Looking at the future prospects and goals of the committee at MDNA, CPR Group consultants considered that simply updating the previous strategic plan would not be enough to encompass the future vision of MDNA, and they did not want to run the risk of thinking too narrowly and of possibly missing important new initiatives.
The outcomes from this project resulted in a new and actionable strategic plan that will guide the association from 2022 to 2024. It was evident that the previous strategic plan guided MDNA successfully by following the agreed actions in the plan, as the association continued to provide great services and support to its members. On the back of this success, the new strategic plan aims to guide MDNA to serve and support the community netball clubs that comprise the association in an even greater capacity in the coming years.
As well as keeping the future goals of the MDNA in mind, the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan created by CPR Group consultants, took into account the pillars outlined in the Netball Queensland Strategic Plan. The Netball Queensland plan includes the overarching strategies for all grassroots clubs, associations and organisations involved in netball across Queensland. Some of the core pillars included are club support, facility development, and attracting and retaining happy volunteers. CPR Group has close links to the sport of netball and an ongoing governance partnership with Netball Queensland, meaning the consultants were able to advise the MDNA on future actions that are consistent with the strategic aims of Netball Queensland. This alignment puts MDNA in a position of readiness to meet the future demands of the sport and achieve common localised actions.
Following the 2022-2024 MDNA Strategic Plan project, CPR Group consultants have since provided a Board Induction workshop to MDNA. This workshop involved the newly elected board members, who were provided with a governance training session to enable them to hit the ground running. Throughout the strategic planning and board induction process, CPR Group consultants also identified the need for MDNA to review and update their constitution. This ensures the association has the right tools to function effectively and guide its members by updating the governing rules. MDNA and CPR Group will continue their work together on this project in 2023.
