This year CPR Group is proud to celebrate our sixth year working with Suncoast Spinners Wheelchair Basketball, a Sunshine Coast based not-for-profit organisation enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through social interaction and engagement.
CPR Group first engaged with Spinners in 2016 after significant changes to their committee. The club took part in CPR Group’s clubMENTOR partnership program which resulted in a range of recommendations and guidance in financial management, marketing, social media, administration and governance.
2017 saw us engage with Spinners through ongoing mentoring and support, with 2018 bringing another formal engagement of the clubMENTOR partnership program. CPR Group assisted with overall club policy review, asset management training, bylaws review and risk management plans. In 2019 we worked with the club to develop a new Strategic Plan and bylaws review. This was the first year that CPR Group provided member protection support, which continues in 2022 with CPR Group’s Steve Connelly sitting on the club’s member protection panel.
2020 brought many extra challenges through COVID and required extra support with COVID safe plans and procedures. Another productive year, with AGM support, constitution, bylaws and policy support. 2021 involved a bylaws review and assistance with securing a major sponsor for the club’s wheelchair basketball program.
In 2022, we are pleased to have Suncoast Spinners taking part in our clubMENTOR partnership program, which provides ongoing support, resources and training. The club is achieving amazing progress in breaking down barriers for people with disabilities, specifically with their reverse inclusion program. This program provides opportunities for people with disabilities and able-bodied people to participate together in wheelchair sports.
As with many not-for-profit clubs, Suncoast Spinners wouldn’t exist without the dedication and hard work of its volunteers. Although the club has many people to thank for its success, Sharon Hill has been instrumental in obtaining crucial funding and revenue streams.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Suncoast Spinners in 2022 and well into the future.
