Scenic Rim Regional Council
2022 Back on Track Online Workshop Series
Session 1: Partnerships, networks and better engagement techniques
Tuesday, 17 May 2022
12.30pm or 6.30pm (both sessions have the same content)
The challenges organisations face have no doubt been met and solved many times by other groups. Rather than reinventing the wheel, collaboration with other groups, Council and peak bodies can help clubs and associations solve problems, uncover potential efficiencies and strengthen networks and service delivery. This workshop provides practical tools to establish working partnerships with other groups, build strong networks, and practical engagement techniques that will deliver benefits for multiple organisations.
Session 2: Engaging with young people
Tuesday, 24 May 2022
12.30pm or 6.30pm (both sessions have the same content)
Engaging young participants and volunteers is critical to the success of community organisations. The way in which organisations successfully target their current and potential volunteers may not appeal to younger people. This workshop explores options for marketing to young people, encouraging their involvement, particularly as volunteers, and supporting and encouraging their place within organisations.
Session 3: Conflict Management - dealing with difficult people
Tuesday, 31 May 2022
12.30pm or 6.30pm (both sessions have the same content)
Should the success of an organisation depend on the personalities of a few trouble makers? This workshop helps volunteers navigate the difficulties that can arise from caustic committee members, volatile volunteers or meddling members. It will cover the skills needed to manage personalities, policies, dispute resolution, and working with peak bodies and other agencies to obtain support.
Session 4: How to prepare and run an Annual General Meeting
Tuesday, 7 June 2022
12.30pm or 6.30pm (both sessions have the same content)
The AGM is a once-yearly opportunity for clubs and associations to celebrate their successes over the previous year, elect new leaders for the year to come, and report on financial performance to members. Yet for many committees, the AGM can be a stressful time indeed, with confusion over notice periods, worries about the election process, and getting the financial audit done in time. This workshop provides a step-by-step approach to preparing for, running and following up on the AGM, as well as tips and tools to make it easy.
