CPR Group was founded in 1997 by Suzelie and Peter Connelly, inspired by their shared passion for strengthening communities and empowering not-for-profit organisations. With Suzelie’s experience in local government and Peter’s business expertise, they identified a critical gap—while businesses were accustomed to planning for success, many sports clubs and community organisations lacked the tools to build their capacity and achieve their goals.
From its earliest days, CPR Group’s mission has been to help clubs and organisations develop structured, forward-thinking approaches to governance and operations. The journey began with small-scale business planning and grant applications but quickly grew into something much larger. Through word-of-mouth recommendations and a commitment to quality, CPR Group expanded its services to include strategic planning, governance support, facility planning and capacity-building programs for organisations and Councils of all sizes across Australia and New Zealand.
Over the past decades, CPR Group has evolved into a leading consultancy, working with local Councils, Government, peak bodies, universities and thousands of clubs across Australia. Today, CPR Group is proud to support the vital work of volunteers, organisations and Council officers, ensuring they have the tools, knowledge and confidence to succeed in an ever-changing landscape.
Though Suzelie and Peter have since stepped away from CPR Group, Michael Connelly, Steve Connelly and the entire CPR Group team continue to uphold their founding vision while steering the organisation toward new opportunities. CPR Group’s legacy is one of resilience, adaptability and unwavering dedication to the communities it serves.
